New acoustic floor and upstairs renovation

Our client wanted to isolate the sound between two home offices, when we took out the old floor it was clear that as well as zero acoustic insulation (as is the case with most floors within a dwelling) the old floor was in a terrible state of repair and at risk of collapse.

We decided to completely remove this area, new C24 7 by 2 joists resin bolted to the wall were then fitted. We then fitted 100mm rock wool acoustic batts, sheep wool tape on top of joists then a dense cementitious board which are glued together but ‘float’ on the joists without fixings.
The customer can now record podcasts, take business calls and has drastically reduced sound attenuation between floors and significantly reduced background noise.

We stripped the old walls back to plaster, fitted new sockets , lighting, plastering, decorating and beautiful new Oak double glazed windows to complete the renovation.
